Another great show  |

Meh, no outtakes.
After playing through ME2, I decided to play through ME1 again to actively change some decisions to see what happens in ME2 (ie. save the council, bang Liara, rescue Wrex, etc.) and I am suffering through some really annoying stuff. Playing ME1 right after ME2 again really shows how much better they made ME2 gamepaly wise. Stuff I didn't really noticed until now. For example the combat is now way more resonsive. In ME1 there was a lot of dice rolling in the background which decided if you hit or not. You could have the reticule spot on and still miss a shot. In ME2 it's more like a shooter. If you target it right you'll hit. It even takes hitzones into consideration which doesn't seem to be the part in ME1. The whole combat seems way more tighter this way. Also the ammo clips in ME2 makes you think more about what to shoot and when.
The dialog system hasn't changed as much but the trigger events where you can interrupt a NPC during their speech really add to the game. I only wish they would be available more often.
The hacking in ME1 is better if you ask me. It isn't as interesting as the systems used in ME2 but its way faster and after a while you clearly have to spent too much time on the system in ME2.
But I have the biggest gripe with the Mako missions in ME1. I absolutely hate them. While the scanning for ore in ME2 is a boring grind, the Mako missions in ME1 are just stupid annoying. |

@nine
But how can there be outtakes when all the outtakes are now left in? |
|
@Chad
Hairsplitting....
You could have at least faked some outtakes at the end of the show to make me happy.
My birthday is next week and I expect outtakes! |
|
|
So raw, full of vitamins.... |
|
nicely done guys... i must admit you are getting back to the gritty Video Game Show. back to the basic bones of a good solid 30 mins. cool ... anyway imm gonna go cya ...
its f***ing snowing agen ... god i hate england! |
|
isn't it usually 30 min's 9 outta 10 times?...  |
|
@nine
If it makes you feel any better the outtake for this episode would have been the bit starting at 23:33. |
|
I still like the show. There's no doubt about that.
But PLEASE, for the love of GOD (and I'm an Atheist) return to the old ways. The old, organized format is what I'm so used to. PLEASE Chad. I feel so unorganized, like I need to pause this week's episode and go alphabetize my snack closet. |
|
@Ruler of Eden
I would kind of agree. If you guys need to take a week off and get back some enthusiasm, then do it. You could even put out a clip show, if that would make you feel better Chad. Episode 82 (Easter egg clip show) is still one of my favourites. That, or make Tom actually show up and do something for once in like 40+ episodes... |
|
Hey I love VGS all the way if you all dont like it you all can go to hell!! <3 ya chad!!! |

@fullmetal adam
Let me try and put this as eloquently and succinctly as possible...
No way in hell are we returning to the old ways.
I can't begin to tell you how much more I enjoy editing the show now since I know it will take less than a few hours. To be honest, I only enjoyed about 4 of the 13+ hours I put into the show.
I'm not going to say I was burning out on the old format, but I was getting tired of the way things were. Things change. My life is changing. Either the show changes or it goes away...and none of the crew wants the show to go away. So the show has to change.
And people who keep asking for an unedited show should be happy now, you're getting what you want. Essentially the show is unedited.
We're recording for about 40 minutes and I'm lightly editing. I'm not speeding up the show as much as I used to. What you're hearing is about 90-95% of how it was recorded.
@naruto20
to you |

|
I like the new show, its funnier (not that the old one wasn't) and it just feels more natural. |
|
the new "structure" just proves that what's fun is listening to you guys, no matter how messy it gets |
|
@davidmn
This
I like the new format. The roll call questions were starting to get stupid imo. |
|
A quick question...
@fullmetal adam
What do you mean by "get back some enthusiasm"?
The enthusiasm level during recording hasn't changed. What has changed is how aggressively I edit the show. I no longer spend hours tweaking every second of the show. I used to pull out all the "dead air" if it didn't help comedic timing. I no longer do that. I still pull a lot of "dead air" out between different speakers, but I don't for one speaker who's running on one thought.
As I said earlier, for all intents and purposes, you're hearing how it was recorded with some light edits. What you're hearing in the final episode is how it was spoken during recording. |
|
|
I like the new format. You guys were all ways enjoyable because you just 'bsed' over the mic and it was/is funny. |
|
The show's cool as always.
That DRM is crap. As the one dial up user left on Earth, having to be online to play a game you paid for is just ridiculous! haha. But I haven't been buying any new games so I can't really complain, but if I wanted to buy a new PC game and it made me be online to play I'd have issues. |
|
@Jon
I completely missed this episode...
People need lives guys. I work 40-45 hours a week, I feel like I have no spare time, and that's without having to edit a show for 10+ hours every week.
In fact, I give Chad props for even doing this. I was writing for a website for a while, 1 article a week. I found myself not having time to take the 25-30 minutes to write something worthwhile and quit (provided, my work week was closer to 50-55 hours a week at the time)
TL R Be happy that there's even a show for you to listen to. |
|
Tl:dr <-disable smilies in the advanced editor.
And motorhead is absolutely right. I wrote a few reviews for the touchmyapps site and even though I really wanted to write more, I couldn't find the time and motivation after a I came home in the evening. Having the VGS crew (and chad's extra effort for editing) doing this week after week for years shows how dedicated they are. |
