Call for Roll Call Questions

Sunday was Mother's Day and apparently the VGS crew decided to spend their evening with their mother's rather than on the show. Can't really fault them, but we can give them a shattered dream pie. In any case the episode will be mostly the audio from the Video Game Show's contribution to the GamerCast Network Invasion of Liberty City. Most of the people who visit the Video Game Show front page or forums have already heard this audio, but a lot of iTunes and Zune subscribers haven't.

Also starting this week, I'm putting out a call for roll call questions. My roll call questions have been rather lame recently. So I'm turning to our listeners for questions to introduce the crew. These questions shouldn't require deep or thought out answers, just something simple and quick. If you've been listening to the show for awhile you know the type of question I generally use. Post them here or send them into the mailbag. If you're feeling adventurous, send us the question in an audio format. You could leave it at our voicemail (320-300-GAME, normal long distance call) or Skype account.

Could COD4 alter the MMO landscape?

Over on Eurogamer, there is an interesting article by Rob Fahey on Call of Duty 4 and the MMO market. He talks about ways in which COD4 can be regarded as a MMO. He believes those similarities should be looked at by developers who are trying to find success in the MMO market. Fahey's conclusions are similar to things we've been saying on the Video Game Show recently about upcoming MMOs who's major competition is World of Warcraft.

Space Siege is the upcoming PC action RPG by Chris Taylor. Chris Taylor is known for his work on Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege, and Supreme Commander.

Space Siege has been dubbed the "spiritual successor" to Dungeon Siege. Think of it as Dungeon Siege set in a sci-fi universe. It's expected to be released later this year. Here's the latest trailer for it:

First Person Free Running: Mirror's Edge Gameplay Video

[May 06, 2008, 02:10:14 PM EDT]

Mirror's Edge is an upcoming FPS from DICE for the PS3, PC, and 360. The devs felt in most FPS you are too physically disconnected from the game world. In Mirror's Edge they're trying to give the player a better sense of physical presence. To that end, the game is built around the concept of carrying out free-running like stunts all from the first person perspective. They just released the first gameplay video at the Sony's Gamer's Day Conference:
